Migraine
Introduction:
Migraine is recurrent headache usually one sided accompanied by nausea or vomiting. It is commonly associated with sensory symptoms as well. Genetics plays crucial role in this problem which is more common in females. The triggers for this headache can range from cheese, chocolate, citrus fruits, glaring light, noise, sleep deprivation, stress, and smoking. The common symptoms of migraine headache are throbbing pain, usually one sided, nausea, vomiting, numbness over face or limbs, sensitivity to light and noise. The headache may persist for 4-72 hours and is relieved with vomiting. Some people get aura or symptoms of preceding migraine attack.
Ayurveda View:
Migraine is known as ardhvabhedaka in Ayurveda. It means half sided severe pain. Ayurveda considers it to be a vata kapha problem though pitta derangement like acidity is a common complaint by the sufferer, So pitta management is also taken care of.

Effective Home remedies:
For headache the ginger powder is mixed in water and the paste is applied over forehead. In few minutes the headache subsides. One should be cautious with this remedy as few people are allergic to ginger paste.
The nausea/vomiting of the migraine is prevented with mint tea.5-10 dried or fresh leaves of mint are boiled in two cups of water. Little sugar is added to it. Now it is strained and the mixture is drunk to relieve nausea.
Chewing few seeds of small cardamom is also effective.
