Cirrhosis liver
Introduction:
Cirrhosis is defined as a liver disorder in which fibrosis or shrinkage of liver tissue is the main problem. Hepatitis, alcohol consumption and immune disorders are the mainly linked with this abnormal process of fibrosis in the liver. As Liver id responsible with a lot of physiological process in the body the symptoms differ a lot when it is affected. Mainly the bleeding problems, portal hypertension, loss of weight, Ascites (water in the abdomen), pain in abdomen, jaundice are encountered in cirrhosis of liver sufferer.
Ayurveda View:
Ayurveda described the liver disorders under udararoga. The cirrhosis or fibrosis of the Liver is a vata phenomenon. Jalodara is the condition mentioned in Ayurveda for ascites and many of the symptoms of liver disorders are described under yakridayodarroga.
Treatment
The treatments mentioned under udararoga and liver restorative impart good results in the cirrhosis. The associated symptoms like bleeding, water in abdomen etc are managed separately with indicated herbs. Those who can withstand the effects of virechna (purgation) are advised for the same therapy. The associated problems of protein deficiency, high blood pressure etc can also be dealt with herbal supplements
Herbs used in treatment of this disorder:
Katuki, Bhumiamalaki, Makoya, kalmegh, sharpunkha, guduchi, rohitaka etc.
Effective Home remedies:
- Boil 10 leaves of neem in one glasss of water till it gets upto one cup. Now add little salt and drink it after meals twice a day after meals.
- The powder of giloya stem and amala can be mixed and taken with equal amount of grounded mishri. The dosage of whole mixture is one teaspoonful twice a day with water.
